The fact that it has not been updated is becoming an obstacle with the rapid advancements in technology every day. Multi sharing, for instance, is difficult on Direct Connect. However, one of the advantages of DC++ being free and open source is that a number of mods have been released adding attributes and features to the original client.
Opera’s DC++ (oDC) has a user friendly interface which allows the user to customize the window according to personal choices in color etc. It also provides additional features, such as shortcuts to directly go to file or the web links to be directly opened in the default set web browser.
If an updated version of the Direct Connect is re-launched, it can work a lot better considering it already has a fast and user friendly interface. A newer version will definitely add up to its popularity and usage.
